Yamaha piano serial numbers
Use these historical serial references to estimate when a Yamaha piano was made. The factory and country of manufacture matter, so first identify the serial number and any factory markings on the instrument.
Check the manufacturing location
Yamaha has produced pianos in more than one country. A serial sequence for a Japanese-made instrument should not be applied automatically to a piano made elsewhere.
Treat the result as approximate
Compare the serial number with the nearest entries, then confirm the model, construction and factory marks. Individual instruments may not fit a simple annual sequence.
