A short history
Friedrich Grotrian returned to Germany after establishing a music business in Moscow and became a partner in the piano factory founded by the Steinweg family. The Grotrian family acquired the remaining shares in 1865. Later generations developed features including the star-shaped back frame and continued production in Braunschweig.
