Bord Pianos
Photo Gallery
This is the most common style of Bord upright piano, probably accounting for about 60% of all those in the UK. It is straight strung and overdamped (see video on Common Makes page). The tuning pins are often very loose as the wrest plank dries out with central heating.

Comments
About 90% of A Bord pianos in the UK are small straight strung overdampers, and are therefore quite basic. However, they are quite attractive, usually walnut or rosewood, and well made, with a sweet tone. In at least 50% of Bord pianos the tuning pins are loose; replacing these costs far more than the value of the piano. If you are looking for a small traditional piano that looks good, then of those most common in the UK we recommend a small iron framed Broadwood or a Bechstein model 9. After 1960 the name was taken over by Pleyel but few of these can be found in the UK.
