About Bösendorfer pianos
Founded by Ignaz Bösendorfer in Vienna in 1828, Bösendorfer developed a reputation for richly coloured grand pianos with an orchestral tonal character.
The Imperial 290 is especially distinctive because it extends below the usual lowest A to 97 keys. Even when the additional bass notes are not played directly, their strings can contribute sympathetic resonance.
Model, age, structural condition, action wear, restoration history and market demand all affect value. The name alone is not enough to establish a reliable price.
